Housing Subsidy for Admins in Need - "HSAN"
Created By: Hampton, Kathryne On Tue, Mar 09, 2010 02:07 PM

Acronyms – their usage is probably more than ever before as the pace of the world continues to increase.  How many does your office environment incorporate?

The Trust is no exception to the acronym culture. We have BOT, RTF, RTFC, VG, FOG and HSAN to name a few.  While some acronyms spell out words that can be quite humorous, the realty is that when you take the time to review what is behind the letters – you would be surprised at the depth of those letters.

“VG”, or Vista Grande, is still very important to us; however “HSAN”, or Housing Subsidy for Admins in Need, takes what we have in Vista Grande and extends it to each and every member within the six districts of IAAP.  It is unlikely that every member will require the benefits of HSAN; however we don’t know yet what damage the recession has done to member’s retirement savings.  The surveys of members undertaken by the Trust in 2009 tell us that in about five years, we will see an increase in the need for the HSAN program.  Further, as members continue to age, the need could become even greater.

I look at it that the Trust is in partnership with the members of IAAP.  To help our own, we need the help of donations from members who are actively working and have the ability to donate to ensure there will be affordable housing for a colleague.  The benefit to donating: the first is how good it feels!  Of course, it helps that as a 501(c)3 – receipts may be used on your income tax return as a deduction.

The process to benefit from HSAN is this: contact the IAAP Controller’s office and request a Housing Subsidy for Admins in Need application.  Complete the application and attach the information required.  When you send in the completed application to the Controller, a number is assigned to it and they begin to disseminate your information into the facts the Trustees are looking for to measure to the set criteria.  Trustees review HSAN applications once each year, currently – during their Fall Board of Trustees meeting.  Each application is discussed and approved/disapproved based on the criteria and available funds.  Ah, available funds, that is why your donation is so very important.  Trustees were pleased at their 2009 Fall meeting to be able to approve five HSAN applications and help those individuals who demonstrated a need for a housing rent subsidy - that is because you have made a difference in the life of a retired administrative professional – thank you for your continued support.  To make your donation easier then ever, visit us online at http://www.iaap-rtf.org/donate/form.html.

Thank you for Helping Our Own!
